Social Security Seminar in Souderton – June 21, 2017

| May 25, 2017

At FIFS Capital Advisor Group, Sid Ruth and I are often asked questions related to Social Security. “When should I claim?”  “What happens if I continue to work part time after I claim?”  “Should I claim on my earnings record or my spouse’s record?”  Social Security can be very complex and the choices you make regarding your claiming strategies can have far reaching consequences.  Recognizing the importance of making wise Social Security decisions, Sid and I wanted to publicize an upcoming Social Security event that is being held locally at Generations of Indian Valley in Souderton.  The Generations  website describes the event as follows:

Social Security Basics

Attend a free presentation with Edward Lafferty,
Public Affairs Specialist for the Social Security Administration on Wednesday, June 21 at 10:30am, and learn about Social Security basics. Ed will discuss common concerns relating to Social Security retirement benefits, eligibility, collection, and the application process. Mr. Lafferty will also discuss your full retirement age, how your benefit is figured, creating a “My Social Security” account, when to take benefits, rules for collecting benefits while working, family benefits, and enrolling in Medicare.  A time for questions and answers will follow the program.
Space is limited for this free program.
Call 215-723-5841 to register.

You can find a link to the event on the Generations of Indian Valley website and while you are visiting the site, take some time to learn more about this worthwhile community organization that serves the seniors of the Indian Valley.  I serve as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Generations and have been very impressed by the resources provided to the community by the staff and volunteers there.  For example, did you know that Generations has provided the Meals on Wheels program for the 8 municipalities of the Indian Valley for over 40 years?  Or that several years ago Generations added Meals on Wheels service for the 7 municipalities of the North Penn area?  The Generations Meals on Wheels service area now extends from Horsham to Worcester to Upper Salford to Telford, and the team includes over 250 volunteers.

I hope that you will be able to attend the Social Security event on June 21st, and while you are there I hope that you can take a brief tour of the facility at Generations to see the good work and good times that are happening there every day.
